What is Silica Mortar?

Silica mortar is an acid-type refractory mortar made of siliceous minerals, clay, sand, and alumina. It has characteristics of good refractoriness, good resistance to chemical attack, and is not easily melted, softened, or worn by high temperatures. As the differentiation of furnaces and application parts, the chemical and physical requirements are varied.

Application of silica mortar

As an important monolithic refractory, silica mortar is widely used in high-temperature industrial kilns and furnaces constructed from silica bricks in various industries. Its main applications are in the hot blast furnace, coke oven, glass furnace melting pool and crown, etc.

Repairing

It does the repair work when damage and cracks occur in the furnace’s inside walls.

Coating

It can be the internal coating for hearths and furnaces of many types.

Sealing

It can seal potholes and peepholes in various high-temperature furnaces.

It can block pore air holes and other defects in the furnaces.
